Art Exhibit Opening Night July 6th!

This is it!  The big night is approaching!  Do not miss the premier opening of the art of Alchemist Imaging on July 6th, 2017 at Good Life Cafe (1614 Main Street, Columbia, SC) as part of the ever-popular First Thursday on Main art crawl!

Alchemist Imaging will be showing for the first time in a solo venue, his portfolio of work over the past ten years as an artist.  His work is primarily photographic with “painterly” qualities (a term borrowed from Atlanta artist Thomas Dodd, who along with many others has done much to inspire the work of Alchemist Imaging).

“The work that I am passionate about are the pieces that use figurative or representative forms to convey thoughts about subjects in psychology, philosophy or mythology in a way that seems to connect with people… I am told often that it speaks to them.”

The artist sees this event as paramount to the future his career, because although he has spent years servicing individuals, commercial clients, and families with his photography, this will solidify his identity as an artist, which he has been fostering for a very long time.

Originally from the Ohio River Valley, the artist transplanted to Columbia, South Carolina after high school in the late 1990’s, and has been integrated into Southern life ever since.  He has a background in marketing sales, as well as finance.  He currently lives in Columbia.  Alongside pursuing his art career and serving his commercial clients, the artist also holds a degree in Anthropology at Arizona State University.

SHOW OPENING:  July 6th, 2017 at Good Life Cafe (1614 Main St., Columbia SC) and will remain in place for viewing and sales through the month of July.

Priscilla Hutto – Debut set

Beauty is so subjective, and yet here we are, with another opportunity to celebrate the beauty and talent of the South.  Sometimes you just know, when you look at someone, you can see it in their eyes.  From the past that haunts them, to the future that lays open in front of them, you know that in this moment, it is the beauty that has the whole thing hanging in a balance.  And when that moment is captured in one afternoon, it can be magical.  Enjoy.
